Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (Family Medicine) at Army Health Clinic Munson, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

Location:

Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, near Greater Kansas City metropolitan area.

Direct Hire Solicitation. Recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Non‑Federal work experience may be creditable for leave. Salary negotiation may be available for those new to Federal service.

• Work as a primary health care provider in a clinical setting.
• Provide urgent and non‑urgent care for all patients.
• Obtain a health history from the patient and record findings.
• Perform special screening and diagnostic tests, request laboratory tests and radiographic studies, and use the results in assessing the patient's medical problems.
• Provide advice and screen patients by telephone and in person to determine nature and urgency of their problems.
• Assess physical and psychological health status of patients and families through health and developmental history‑taking and physical examination in accordance with established protocols.
• Develop and provide individual and group patient health teaching on topics related to health promotion.
• Prescribe a variety of medications to patients based on the medical treatment facility formulary.

Performs other duties as assigned.

To qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps) and other organizations. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, transcripts will be required.

Basic Requirements:

• Degree: A graduate or higher level degree from an accredited professional nursing educational program in Advanced Practice Nursing. (Attach transcripts.)
• Foreign degree:
  Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools.
• Licensure:
  Must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination and possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
• Additional License Requirement:
  Must be licensed in the clinical specialty required by the position.
• Exemption:
  Current federal employee in occupational series 0610 employed continuously since September 27, 2017, may be exempt from the basic requirements.

Requirements:

• Experience GS‑12:
  At least one full year of professional nursing experience equivalent to GS‑11, including performing physical examinations, ordering or interpreting lab results, and prescribing medications.
• Substitution of education for experience is not permitted for this position.
