We are seeking an Emergency Room RN (also civs referred to as an Emergency Department RN or Emergency Services RN). The ER RN provides rapid and skilled care to patients who arrive at the hospital seeking emergency medical attention. The ER nurses are skilled professionals who play a critical role in delivering emergent and urgent care to patients in the emergency department.

This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN.

Location: Saint John Hospital – Leavenworth, KS

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Deliver high-quality care to patients with varying levels of illness and injury.
  • Triage and quickly assess situations, make decisions, and solve problems efficiently in high-pressure environments.
  • Cooperate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Aid in resuscitative efforts, including CPR and the use of defibrillators.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment for emergency interventions (e.g., intubation, central line placement).
  • Assist in patient stabilization for conditions like trauma, cardiac arrest, and acute illnesses.
  • Prioritize patient care based on acuity level using triage protocols.
Qualifications
  • Current andthet valid state RN license.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Basic Arrhythmia interpretation within 30 days of hire.
  • Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 6 months of hire required.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; ER setting preferred.
  • Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Facility Specific Requirements

1. In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.

2. EDAP certified facilities:
Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.

3. Non OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
