Salary: $31.36 per hour
At Core Civic, our employees are driven by a deep sense of service, high standards of professionalism and a responsibility to better the public good. We are currently seeking a Senior Detention Officer who has a passion for providing the highest quality care in an institutional, secure setting.
Responsibilities- Assist in the supervision of the administrative and operational security activities in a detention facility.
- Directly supervise Detention Officers assigned to the shift.
- Provide protection for each inmate/resident and preserve their legal rights.
- Supervise the count of inmates/residents and direct adherence to all key control procedures.
- Give general supervision of Detention Officers and inmates/residents during their shift duties and evaluate as prescribed.
- Conduct inspections of all housing and general use areas to maintain proper standards, procedures, and corporate guidelines of security, health, safety, sanitation, and welfare.
- Assist in supervising the internal and external security of the facility; routinely inspect posts to ensure alertness and proper security maintenance.
- High school diploma, GED certification or equivalent.
- Three years of experience in a criminal justice field, preferably including one year in a supervisory capacity.
- Completion of basic pre-service officer training and, where applicable, be a non-commissioned security officer licensed by the state of employment.
- Valid driver's license.
- Minimum age: 21 years.
- (Optional) Additional education may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
