Kansas City Orthopedic Alliance is the largest, independently owned orthopedic specialty practice in the Kansas City metro area. We have over 50 medical providers practicing out of eight locations. Each team focuses on the importance of customer service, communication, and caring for patients.

We are seeking an experienced Surgery Department Supervisor. This is a full-time, exempt position, Monday‑Friday, 40 hours a week.

  • Oversees a team of specialists managing all aspects of surgery and testing scheduling including third party authorization.
  • Directs and supervises Surgery Schedulers, Financial Counselors and Pre‑certification (non‑surgical) in several locations. (Travel between locations on a daily basis may be required).
  • Performs managerial responsibilities including participating in hiring, performance reviews, training, counseling and performance improvement, approval of PTO/sick leave, scheduling changes, and decision‑making regarding work requirements and physical location.
  • Participates and directs at least monthly staff meetings with the team covering updates, concerns and workflow changes.
  • Works with direct supervisor on developing new procedures to improve office effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Performs an operations review at least annually of the current processes for managing the clinical aspect of each treatment team, including but not limited to: operational protocols, communication, technology enhancements, staffing needs and training needs.
  • Responsible for inter‑department communication and brings any necessary issues to the attention of their supervisor.
  • Operates within the context of an established departmental budget. Makes recommendations for the annual budget and maximizes opportunities to meet and exceed budget guidelines.
  • Able to relay financial information and patient responsibilities for services to be received on an as‑needed basis.

Qualifications
  • 1‑3 years of relevant experience and/or training.
  • 1‑3 years of managing people/teams.
