The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting function for our ambulatory surgery centers portfolio. This is a working manager role with primary responsibility for month-end close execution, financial statement accuracy, balance sheet integrity, and staff oversight.

The Accounting Manager directly manages staff accountants and ensures timely, accurate, and consistent financial reporting across multiple entities. This role also plays a key part in refining, standardizing, and implementing accounting processes to support a growing, multi-entity healthcare platform. The position serves as a key liaison between accounting, operations, and finance leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with consideration for more seasoned accounting managers
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement preparation
  • Strong analytical, project management, leadership, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Experience reviewing the work of others and providing guidance to staff accountants
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple entities and competing deadlines
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfort working in structured close workbooks
  • Healthcare accounting experience preferred, particularly ASC, hospital, or medical services environments
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Sage ERP experience preferred
Essential Functions:
  • Act as a working manager, completing and reviewing monthly close deliverables for assigned centers while supervising staff accountants.
  • Own the month-end close process for assigned entities, ensuring financial statements are prepared timely, accurately, and in accordance with GAAP.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules prepared by staff accountants.
  • Ensure balance sheet accounts are fully reconciled, supported, and free of material misstatement prior to issuance of financial statements.
  • Review monthly financial statements and supporting detail before distribution to finance leadership and operations.
  • Direct, mentor, and develop staff accountants, including setting expectations around close timelines, documentation standards, and quality of work.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities including general ledger, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany activity.
  • Ensure proper coding and classification of transactions, including review of accounts payable coding to minimize reclassifications.
  • Support cash management activities, including assisting with short-term cash forecasting and liquidity tracking for assigned entities.
  • Partner with operations and finance leadership to explain financial results, variances, and trends as needed.
  • Refine, document, and implement standardized accounting processes across assigned centers to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability.
  • Identify process gaps, control weaknesses, or inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Provide support for external audits, tax requests, and other information requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Serve as a key accounting contact for assigned facilities, operations teams, and internal finance stakeholders.
  • Support annual budget preparation by providing historical financial data, expense trends, and accounting input to finance leadership and operations.
