Job Title
Medical Assistant (Ophthalmic Technician)

TravelTravel is required to our other offices within about a 45‑minute radius.
Hours- Full Time
- Monday‑Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- May need to work early or late as needed.

- Facilitate patient flow.
- Assist the doctor in preliminary testing.
- Verify medical and vision insurances.
- Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers.
- Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in‑person requests.
- Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter.
- Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly, and thank them when they leave.
- Practice urgency with patient, doctor, and schedule time.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA.
- Verify patient information by interview.
- Record medical history, current medications and confirm purpose of visit.
- Record all data in the patient’s Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Check condition of patient’s eyes by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extraocular movements.
- Perform diagnostic tests: dilation, refraction, intraocular pressure, visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor, topography.
- Demonstrate knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications.
- Perform general office duties and cleaning as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
- Favorable result on Background Check.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Excitement to learn and grow.
- Desire to gain industry knowledge and training.
- Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals.
- Ability to grow, adapt, and accept change.
- Consistently creates a positive work environment by being team‑oriented and patient‑focused.
- Ability to interact with all levels of employees in a courteous, professional manner.
- Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet the needs of the business.
- Reliable transportation for multiple work locations with minimal notice.
- Minimum required:
High school diploma or GED. - Minimum required:
One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.
- Preferred:
Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification, but not required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), standing (50%).
- Regular bending, stooping, reaching (25‑50%).
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lb.
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands are essential.
- Visual and auditory acuity, including color, depth, peripheral vision, and focus, required 100% of the time.
- Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary.
