Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

- Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy; perform pharmacy department duties in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions; if PTCB certified, coach other technicians and cashiers in system and register operation.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience by greeting patients, answering questions, resolving issues, and maintaining courteous service.
- Assist in medication dispensing activities such as retrieving, counting, pouring, verifying and checking for interactions.
- Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist and adhere to company quality improvement programs.
- Handle sales on the assigned cash register, process cash and take customers to the OTC aisle when appropriate.
- Answer telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention, including calls to physicians.
- Process manual claims for third‑party prescription services and perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Assist with inventory management: ordering, unpacking, checking, storing pharmaceuticals, reporting overages or shortages.
- Assist with clinical services such as collecting and labeling blood/urine samples, coordinating with Walgreens healthcare clinics and external providers.
- Support relationships with local medical community through provider detailing and outreach.
- Maintain a clean, organized pharmacy department and comply with all company policies.
- Complete special assignments and other tasks as designated by the Pharmacy Manager.
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and, if applicable, state‑required certification.
- Attend manager‑requested training and acquire continuing education credits to stay current with healthcare and pharmacy developments.
- Fluent reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
- At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
- Prior work experience with Walgreens.
- Strong math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing).
- Computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of store inventory control.
- PTCB certification.
