Paralegal/Legal Assistant at Home Services of America
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Manage various collaborative reporting and compliance activities, both independently and as a supporting role to paralegals and attorneys.
- Project management: data compilation and summary; drafting and proofing documents; records maintenance.
- Draft periodic legal reports and summaries for management.
- Administer department document management software and multiple SharePoint sites; experience with Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker preferred.
- Provide litigation support, including managing litigation holds, researching answers to interrogatories, document requests, and subpoenas; perform tracking and filing of complaints, motions, and orders; experience using PACER desired.
- Provide administrative support to attorneys: scheduling meetings, preparing expense reports, sending and receiving mail, filing, making travel arrangements, and other projects as assigned.
- Support acquisition activity: due diligence, preparation of transaction documents, obtaining certificates of good standing, performing UCC searches.
- Perform legal and business research and communicate findings in memoranda.
- Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
- Meet all performance and behavior expectations outlined in the company performance appraisal form or communicated by management.
- Perform responsibilities as directed to achieve desired results within expected time frames and with a high degree of quality, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Establish and maintain positive and productive work relationships with staff, vendors and business partners.
- Demonstrate the behavioral and technical competencies necessary to effectively complete job responsibilities; take personal initiative for technical and professional development.
- Follow the company HR Policy, the Code of Business Conduct and all subsidiary and department policies and procedures, protecting confidential company information, attending work punctually and as scheduled, and following good safety and cybersecurity practices in all activities.
- 2- or 4-year degree in paralegal studies, or paralegal certificate.
- 2+ years experience working as a paralegal in a law department within a corporation or law firm.
- Familiarity with litigation process and procedure.
- Effective analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and responsibly and to prioritize multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
- Demonstrated ability to independently research, process, and professionally present information both verbally and in writing on a wide variety of topics.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, internet use, and office equipment operation.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, customer‑service focus, and ability to work well as a member of a team.
- Integrity, dependability, accuracy and flexibility.
- Ability to work in a hybrid onsite environment.
