Kansas City Orthopaedic Institute is a specialty orthopedic hospital. We are physician owned, with 17 IPU beds and eight state‑of‑the‑art surgical suites. We have been serving the Kansas City area for 25 years. Our hospital offers our staff work life balance, a 1:2 nurse to patient ratio, Monday through Friday schedules, no weekends, no holidays, and no mandatory on call.

We're currently seeking a full‑time dedicated Registered Nurse who can work in Pre‑Op and Post‑Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This role is vital in ensuring the highest quality of perioperative care for our patients, contributing significantly to our mission of delivering exceptional orthopedic services. Our all‑RN staff works collaboratively with the OR in a fast‑paced environment with a quick patient turnover rate.

As a Registered Nurse in the PACU, you will play a crucial role in providing a superior bedside experience to patients recovering from orthopedic surgeries. You will work closely with our team of board‑certified orthopedic surgeons to ensure the highest quality of care for our patients.

Duties
  • Administer quality nursing care to pre‑ and post‑operative orthopedic patients in the department
  • Manage patient recovery post‑surgery, including monitoring vital signs and pain management
  • Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring their safety, comfort, and readiness for the procedure
  • Collaborate with physicians and therapists to facilitate patient progress towards recovery goals
  • Educate patients and their families on post‑operative care instructions
  • Maintain accurate electronic documentation of patient care activities

Experience
  • Minimum of 1‑5 years of nursing experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • Experience in orthopedics is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Certification in BLS and ACLS is preferred.
