Official, Youth Basketball (Part‑time)

About the RoleWe are seeking reliable and enthusiastic Youth Recreational Basketball Officials to officiate games for our youth basketball program. Officials play a key role in creating a fun, safe, and positive environment while ensuring games are officiated fairly and consistently.
Schedule and Location- Part‑time, Saturdays from January 10 – February 22, 9 am‑6 pm
- Games are at John Diemer Elementary School, 96th and Lamar
- Officiate youth basketball games in accordance with league rules
- Promote sportsmanship and positive behavior among players, coaches, and spectators
- Ensure the safety of all participants
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with players, coaches, and fellow officials
- Arrive on time and prepared for scheduled games
- Maintain control of the game in a calm and professional manner
- Free individual membership to The J
- $20–$25 per game (8–10 games every Saturday)
- Basic knowledge of basketball rules and gameplay
- Prior officiating experience preferred but not required (training provided)
- Strong communication skills and sound judgment
- Dependable and punctual
- Comfortable working with youth athletes
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Constant talking and hearing to communicate with players and officials
- Frequent standing, walking, and eye/hand/foot coordination, plus exposure to a generally loud gymnasium environment
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling of up to 25 lb, stooping/crouching, sitting, climbing stairs/ladders throughout the building and on the court, and repetitive motions to demonstrate and execute skills
