Recreation Rental & Event Coordinator
This role is part of the Parks, Recreation & Arts Department at the City of Leawood, Kansas. As the Recreation Rental & Event Coordinator, you will serve as a key liaison for the public when hosting events at city facilities, coordinating rental space for weddings, reunions, meetings, and other special occasions. You will need creativity, organizational skill, and a passion for helping clients plan memorable events.
Responsibilities- Oversee day‑to‑day operations and rentals at the Lodge at Ironwoods and Amphitheater.
- Promote the City’s rental space options for public use.
- Assist with rentals and daily operations at other City facilities.
- Coordinate the Recreation Department’s Special Events.
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate assigned recreational staff.
- Assist the department in program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Stay updated on state and national event management standards, products, and techniques through continuous learning.
- Self‑starter mindset with resourcefulness, innovation, and a team‑player attitude.
- Expert organizational skills with clear, compelling oral and written communication.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and shift priorities with professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Experience in event coordination and client event planning.
• Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Administration, Leisure Management, or a related field.
• At least two (2) years of experience in Recreation and Facility Operations, Event Coordination, or equivalent.
• Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.
Starting Rate of Pay: $52,092 – $60,000 per year, DOQ.
