Job Summary
Barnhart is seeking a Project Site Safety Coordinator to serve as the designated safety lead for assigned project(s), ensuring compliance during logistics, rigging, crane operations, and equipment installation activities. This temporary, project-based role requires strong leadership and a proactive approach to maintain strict adherence to Barnhart, customer, and OSHA safety standards within the defined project scope. The Site Safety Coordinator will support the implementation of safety programs, monitor compliance, and take corrective action when violations occur.
Key Responsibilities- Support and implement site-specific safety plans and job hazard analyses for assigned project(s).
- Ensure compliance with Barnhart safety procedures, customer requirements, and OSHA regulations throughout project execution.
- Conduct daily pre-task safety meetings and toolbox talks, ensuring full participation and accountability.
- Monitor millwright, ironworker, and crane crews for adherence to approved lift plans and safe work practices.
- Exercise stop-work authority within project scope when unsafe conditions or violations occur; lead corrective actions and escalate as needed.
- Perform routine inspections of PPE, rigging gear, fall protection, and heavy equipment safety protocols.
- Conduct safety orientations for all site personnel and subcontractors, emphasizing project-specific hazards and zero-tolerance for non-compliance.
- Investigate safety violations, near-misses, and incidents; develop and implement preventive measures for the project.
- Maintain accurate safety logs, inspection checklists, and compliance reports for leadership and client review.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact for emergency response coordination for assigned project(s).
- Provide daily compliance and safety updates to Barnhart project management and customer representatives.
- Participate in planning and coordination meetings, ensuring safety requirements are integrated into all work sequences.
- Coach and mentor field supervisors and craft labor on project-specific safety best practices.
- 5+ years of safety management experience in industrial construction, heavy rigging, or millwright/ironworker environments.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, crane safety, and rigging operations.
- Proven ability to enforce compliance and support safety programs effectively within project scope.
- Current OSHA 30-hour certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience on pharmaceutical or advanced manufacturing projects.
- Familiarity with engineered heavy lift and logistics safety practices.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CHST, or equivalent.
- Ability to work in outdoor and industrial construction environments.
- Capable of walking the site, climbing scaffolding or ladders, and observing rigging operations in real time.
