Piping Superintendent

The Piping Superintendent leads field operations for large-scale heavy civil industrial projects. You will be completely responsible for the on-site execution, management, and technical supervision of all underground and above-ground piping installations. This role is responsible for monitoring the overall construction work by evaluating the project and the project’s supervision. The Piping Superintendent directs field crews and subcontractors, maintains rigorous safety standards, and ensures all installations strictly align with project blueprints, ASME codes, and aggressive scheduling targets.

• Ensures that a safe workplace remains the top priority by partnering with the safety department and project management to support policies, procedures, and practices for establishing a safe workplace.
• Works with and coaches supervisors, general foreman and foreman on developing project execution plans and schedules. You know how you can build the job, work with estimating and management to put that plan on paper with dates, manpower and equipment needed.
• Assists with developing construction project plan and schedule with project team based on the estimate approach.
• Updates project schedules, manages, and ensures labor productivity against budget, and coordinates subcontractor and self-perform work.
• Assists in recruiting and retaining foremen and craftsmen for appropriate project.
• Oversees job progress by ensuring field labor productivity remains at a factor of 1 or above. If any activity falls below .95 at any time, you will need to evaluate why and make corrections to increase labor productivity.
• Solves problems and conflicts using proper documentation, quality control, and safety control techniques on the job.
• Controls project costs by weekly evaluation of labor, material, and equipment costs.
• Oversees field productivity, cost control, quality control, and scheduling to ensure accurate and updated construction schedules and budgets are being met.
• Works with field and project management to address cost and schedule concerns.
• Takes an active part in job start/job close meetings when applicable and as needed. Project supervisor should lead this role; however, you shall participate and add insight into discussions.
• Communicates regularly with project management to troubleshoot job challenges and update job status.
• Provides leadership through building cooperative relationships, acting systemically, being decisive, and taking responsibility.
• Ensures field employees and subcontractors abide by SCI and plant policies and procedures.
• Oversees and ensures SCI equipment and tools are being utilized properly and well maintained.
• Displays leadership by being a good role model and striving to always promote a positive attitude.
• Acts in a professional manner, no matter the situation.

• Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of incident prevention processes and project HSE requirements.
• Accepts responsibility for the implementation of incident prevention processes and safe work practices at the project/site.
• Ensures that each new employee on your crew has received an initial HSE orientation and a copy of the SCI Craft Employee Handbook and Health, Safety, and Environmental Requirements and has signed an acknowledgment of the receipt of such handbook.
• Explains applicable rules, requirements, and procedures to employees under your direct supervision, and ensures each employee understands the rules, requirements, and procedures.
• Consistently enforces HSE rules, requirements, and procedures. Your responsibilities go beyond HSE Management System requirements and include correction of unsafe acts or unsafe conditions (regardless of whether these unsafe situations involve your crew or not). If…
