Engineer - Automation Engineering – Hardware, Instrumentation and Controls

The Engineer – Automation Engineering works as a member of the Automation Engineering Department at the Foundry, providing automation support across site areas and capital projects. The role focuses on ensuring reliable, compliant control applications and systems for GMP manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership and mentorship of the process control team.
- Design, implement, and commission control systems, including hardware, application software, and test specifications.
- Develop and execute the Automation Engineering Project Plan.
- Lead design reviews, system hardware reviews, equipment FATs, and site support activities.
- Perform design, tuning, and troubleshooting of control loops and related hardware.
- Maintain the validated state of the site control system hardware per Lilly quality standards.
- Support automation for capital projects and new product introductions.
- Promote automation to improve productivity, operational efficiency, and compliance.
- Develop a network of corporate contacts and leverage corporate expertise when needed.
- Provide periodic status updates to project management and participate in site support shift rotation.
- B.S. in Engineering and experience in Automation Engineering, preferably in major pharmaceutical manufacturing.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience in biopharma engineering, operations, or manufacturing.
- Experience with design, development, commissioning, and qualification of highly automated greenfield manufacturing sites using SCADA, DCS, BMS controllers, valves, motors, control panels, robotics, and warehouse systems.
- Experience facilitating and driving organizational decision-making.

SalaryEstimated range: $64,500 – $167,200. Full-time equivalent employees may be eligible for a company bonus and a comprehensive benefits program, including 401(k), pension, health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and well-being benefits.
