We are currently seeking a Delta
V Project Automation Area Lead to provide technical ownership of the control system solution for a designated area within a large-scale greenfield pharmaceutical manufacturing project. Due to the scale of the program, multiple positions are available.
This role supports a multi‑year, multi‑facility greenfield program delivering highly flexible GMP drug substance manufacturing capabilities. This is a hybrid position; candidates may be based anywhere in the United States but must travel to Lebanon, IN for a minimum of one week per month during the basic/detailed design phase and weekly during the commissioning phase of the project.
This individual will be responsible for ensuring the automation solution aligns with the overall program automation philosophy, standards, and user requirements throughout design and execution. The Automation Area Lead will work closely with cross‑functional project stakeholders, including the Automation Project Manager, Automation Technical Lead, fellow Automation Area Leads, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Science & Technology, Quality Engineering, and Operations, to deliver a compliant, scalable, and fit‑for‑purpose Delta
V Batch DCS solution.
- Technical ownership for an area within a project
- Define the S88 software structure and equipment list for the area
- Develop draft functional design specifications for the area
- Work with system integrators to finalize functional specifications
- Participate in P& control strategy reviews
- Work closely with the Project Technical Lead and System Integrator to deliver the project on schedule and within budget
- Collaborate with program technical offices to ensure alignment with overall automation philosophy and standards
- Ensure consistency of automation deliverables (requirements, functional specifications, control strategies, phases, recipes, etc.)
- Assist in defining software components that need to be created or modified
- Communicate progress, issues, and needs to the Automation Technical Lead
- Provide input, review, and approval of functional requirements and specifications
- Develop parameter and recipe specification documents
- Respond to system integrator technical queries
- Identify remediation efforts required for process control software
- Create and track issues as they arise following software acceptance
- Identify and analyze technical risks specific to the area and plan appropriate responses
- Maintain compliance with training requirements
- BS in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of automation experience in the pharmaceutical industry (preferably API/bulk manufacturing)
- Prior experience supporting large pharmaceutical automation projects or programs
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience with Delta
V Batch DCS - Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs preferred
- Strong knowledge of GMPs, regulatory requirements, and computer system validation principles
- Exceptional teamwork and collaboration skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
