Process Automation Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

The Process Automation Engineer focuses on automation in the boat building industry utilizing both technology and engineering principles to overcome challenging obstacles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Supports automated equipment troubleshooting.
• Programs Robotics.
• Adjusts current models to maintain quality expectations.
• Programs new models.
• Participates in new product development.
• Includes new equipment to support manufacturing.
• Acts as a liaison between production and automation.
• Stays current on new processes and technology.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

• Preferred Degree: B.S. Engineering or Mechatronics
• Experience:
  
  Engineering degree with 2-3 years of experience, Technical degree with 3-5 years of experience, Relevant skillset 5-7 years of experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY

• Experience working with industrial control systems and/or robotics
• Motoman robotics, Rockwell PLC, Fronius welding equipment preferred
• Understanding of manufacturing techniques
• Welding, Cutting, bending, joining, etc.
• Aluminum applications preferred
• Proficient with the Microsoft office software suite
• Basic understanding of GD&T
• CAD experience (2D and 3D preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to both lead projects and to work within a team
• Self-motivated and able to work well with others

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

• Occasional travel will be required for training and new equipment buyoff activities. Some of this travel will be over/multi night. Overnight travel time estimated at less than 10% but could be slightly higher if significant offsite training is needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Regular computer work, walking, standing, lifting up to 50lbs, etc.

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT

• Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives. Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments. Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired result. Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices. Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
