Job SummaryAuxiliary Assistant to provide various duties as assigned which may include proctor exams, reader and/or scribe for exams, and class/lab/rotation assistant as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with the physical manipulation of lab materials and adjustment/movement of lab equipment.
- Take dictation for lab recording of data and completion of lab worksheets.
- Take dictation/record answers for quizzes/tests/examinations and administer (proctor) student exams.
- Assist with preparation of the testing area, check in students for exams, resolve questions, and collect exam materials.
- Read aloud academically required materials.
- Describe visual information in class and assist with in‑class assignments.
- Support students with disability-related tasks as assigned by the California Disability Services Center (CDSA) and the Advanced Academic Resource Center (AARC).
Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to perform duties as instructed.
- Proficient with computer operation and manipulation of required items to complete assignments.
- Previous experience in administering academic test exams in an educational setting or similar experience.
- Knowledge of lab equipment and safety procedures (if applicable).
- Ability to follow directions.
- Associate’s degree (A.A. or A.S.) or completion of 60 units of college credit with an appropriate academic background, especially in STEM disciplines.
Minimum $17.00 per hour – Maximum $20.00 per hour
Physical DemandsEssential functions of the position require frequent use of hands to operate a PC, sitting, reaching, and occasionally standing, walking, stooping, and holding up to 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be available.
Work EnvironmentThe job is performed in a typical classroom setting with a low to moderate noise level. Reasonable accommodations may be available.
Pay Transparency ActWestern University of Health Sciences provides a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience, within the expected pay scale no typical offer falls at the top of the range.
