Job Summary

TCAT Hartsville is seeking qualified full- and/or part-time Welding Technology Instructors to assist with classroom and lab instruction in MIG, TIG, STICK, GAS, and other welding processes. These instructors will support teaching both high school and adult learners, maintain safety standards, evaluate student progress, and help students build the skills necessary for employment in the welding industry. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.

Part-time: $30/hr;
Full-time: $55,983 - $67,181.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and evaluate all phases of the College’s Welding Technology programs (part-time role).
  • Provide individualized classroom and lab instruction to students to prepare them to become welders.
  • Maintain good public relations with business and industry.
  • Maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support a dynamic and growing institution with a vision to expand services and offerings.
  • Hours and days will vary.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum five (5) years of welding experience
  • Ability to teach GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), SMAW (STICK), oxyacetylene fusion, flux core welding, flame cutting, brazing, soldering
  • Familiarity with blueprint reading, welding symbols, metallurgy, fitting and fabrication
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to maintaining safety and program-accrediting standards
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teaching experience
  • Postsecondary diploma or A.A.S. in Welding or related field
  • Certifications such as AWS, CWE, CWI, or NCCER
  • Robotic welding and/or teaching experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have good organizational and planning skills.
  • Must be willing to remain current in the welding profession.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff and general public.
