Central Sterile Processing Technician - Vanderbilt Surgery Center Lebanon - $5,000 Sign on Bonus

Job Summary: The Central Sterile Processing Technician decontaminates, cleans, packages and sterilizes all instruments/equipment and other supplies used in the hospital as well as maintains appropriate documentation.

Position Highlights
  • Hours are Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm.
  • No nights, weekends, holidays, or call.
  • Must have one of the following certifications in order to be considered:
    Certified Registered Central Service Technician - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association or Certified Sterile Processing Technician - The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc.
  • 1 year of sterile processing experience is required but 2 or more years of experience is preferred.
  • The sign on bonus is not applicable to current VUMC staff or former staff who have worked for VUMC in the past twelve months. The sign‑on bonus is only available for full‑time positions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Decontaminates and cleans instruments for the operating room.
  • Assembles instrument sets to be used in procedures.
  • Sterilizes instruments.
  • Adheres to practices and policies outlined to ensure patient safety and follows infection control standards.
Technical Capabilities
  • Equipment Maintenance (Intermediate):
    Demonstrates mastery of preventive maintenance in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully maintaining equipment, products, or systems without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to conduct predictive maintenance on core products and equipment.
  • Environmental Sterility & Safety (Intermediate):
    Demonstrates mastery of environmental sterility and safety in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering environmental sterility and safety services without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving technical instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
  • Surgical Equipment Knowledge (Intermediate):
    Demonstrates mastery of the equipment and related devices. Has solid knowledge of performance criteria. Able to use the equipment to accomplish advanced tasks associated with the specific devices. Easily resolves equipment problems.
  • Inventory Control (Intermediate):
    Demonstrates mastery of inventory control in practical applications of a difficult nature. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results without requiring support and instruction from others. Able to train and educate by setting the example, giving instruction, providing leadership, and generally raising the level of performance of others while on the job.
