Primary Function

Responsible for the efficient operation of the Manufacturing Department, the direction of the plant workforce and the meeting of daily production schedules. Supervises and coordinates activities of leaders and workers. Verifies correct manufacturing processes are adhered to. Works with other operators, engineers and quality personnel to identify and resolve potential customer issues.

Work Schedule

After training: 3:30 pm–2:00 am shift, 4 days per week (Mon–Thu), with some flexibility to come in early and/or stay late, and potential overtime.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and procedures to leaders and operators.
  • Establish a safe workplace through employee involvement.
  • Notify Human Resources of emergencies and employees needing first aid.
  • Investigate all injuries; provide support on implementation of suggested corrective procedures.
  • Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
  • Notify leaders and employees of scheduled hours in a timely manner.
  • Complete employee time, absenteeism, and vacation paperwork or systems in a timely manner.
  • Promote positive relations with employees through effective communication of company policies and procedures.
  • Investigate conflicts and discipline personnel within the Manufacturing Department.
  • Coordinate and implement cross‑training, manufacturing training, and departmental rotation plans.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems, or assist leaders in solving work problems.
  • Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications; analyze all nonconformances for root cause and implement corrective procedures.
  • Coordinate activities of individual departments with other supervisors.
  • Study production schedules, estimate man‑hour requirements for completion of job assignments, and make appropriate action plans.
  • Complete all manufacturing production schedules, including subassemblies, service requirements, and other department requests, on time.
  • Ensure product quality in accordance with established company guidelines and/or specifications.
  • Interpret specifications, drawings, and job orders to workers, and assign duties.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or related field (preferred).
  • 3+ years of related work experience or training.
  • 1+ year of supervisory/leadership experience (preferred).
  • Ability to prepare and interpret various metrics, and reports.
  • Ability to identify problems and take appropriate corrective measures.
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.
  • Proficient mathematical skills.
  • Experience with in manufacturing, leadership skills, understanding of basic principles of human resources and manufacturing process, ability to make decisions and willingness to follow policies and procedures.
  • Experience in the water heater manufacturing industry (preferred).
  • Valid forklift driver’s license.
  • Valid driver’s license.
