Job Summary: The Retail Store Associate will provide customer service to donors and customers in daily store operations to meet preset sales goals. The Associate prepares donated items for retail sale and promotes a positive work environment that celebrates our vision, mission, and core values of teamwork, respect, uprightness, and empowerment in all interactions with teammates, donors, customers, management, and persons served.

Essential Functions:

• Demonstrates an enthusiastic, winning attitude at all times, acting courteously and with interest in each encounter with guests.
• Performs register tasks, including verifying funds, accurately counting down register, maintaining cleanliness and stocking register areas.
• Follows proper phone etiquette and uses the paging system.
• Follows all loss prevention procedures.
• Maintains all floor visual presentations (houseware end caps, H‑rack displays, shoe racks).
• Performs store housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, and dusting the store, processing area, donation center, restrooms, and dressing rooms.
• Ensures proper rotation of all store merchandise.
• Follows the retail dress code policy.
• Performs opening and closing procedures per retail policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

• Prices donated products to meet production standards and store sales goals.
• Selects quality donated products to meet e‑commerce goals.
• Promotes and adheres to Goodwill’s mission and values.
• Keeps store stocked according to production goals by transferring saleable items to the sales floor.
• Prepares products for shipping in accordance with the standard operating procedures.

• Readily available to customers, exhibiting a high level of customer service.
• Is at designated work area and ready to work by the scheduled time.
• Accurately and efficiently follows merchandising standards, including product placement and stock rotation.
• Is knowledgeable of and complies with all company policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Contributes to a safe, welcoming environment for employees and customers.
• Wears personal protective equipment.
• Performs housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, wiping shelves, dusting, and using floor scrubbers.
• Has regular, reliable attendance as defined in Goodwill’s attendance policy.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No previous experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, employees, and customers.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
• Problem‑solving, prioritizing, and multitasking skills.
• Excellent decision‑making skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and ability to manage a budget.
• Ability to operate a cash register.
• Basic computer skills (Excel and e‑mail).

Preferred Education / Experience / Knowledge & Skills / Certifications & Licenses:

• Experience in retail, customer service, or production is preferred.

Physical & Work Condition Requirements:

• Must be able to stand, bend, and reach for the duration of your shift.
• Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Material Handler must be able to drive a forklift.
• Donation Attendants must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds.
