Position: Temp to Hire DS1023 Maintenance Electrician

Temp to Hire DS1023 Maintenance Electrician

Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits and equipment within an establishment using hand tools and testing instruments. Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, and/or testing lamp.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits and equipment.
  • Isolate defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment.
  • Perform duties using ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, and/or testing lamp.
  • Replace faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.
  • Inspect equipment and diagnose trouble.
  • Dismantle electrical machinery and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures.
  • Mount motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and complete circuits according to diagram specifications.
  • Inspect completed work and ensure that work conforms to requirements of local building and safety codes.
  • Conduct all work in a safe, clean, and orderly manner.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
  • Participate on project teams as requested.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

    Skills:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to present information in one‑on‑one situations to customers and other employees.

    Skills:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, whole numbers, fractions, & decimals.
  • Other

    Skills:

    Knowledge of mechanics, shop math, and machinery procedures. Ability to work within close tolerances of .001 to .003 inches. Ability to work from blueprints and/or sketches.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee is moderately required to stand, walk, or sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Lifting Frequency:
    Occasional heavy lifting 100 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Vision:
    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Repetitive Hand Action:
    Firm grasping – the ability to exert sufficient grip to pick‑up a case of 12 oz. soft drinks or to pick‑up a bowling ball. Requires approximate grip strength of 45–60 lbs. on a hand dynamometer.
  • Fine Manipulation of Hands/Fingers:
    Sufficient coordination to place and screw a small washer on a bolt, to pick‑up clip from a desk top, or pick up a dime off a counter top. Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms. Ability to work in two (2) person teams.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near and/or with moving mechanical parts. The employee has moderate risk of electric shock. The employee occasionally works near fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud.
