This post is for 23 hours per week and the holder will undertake a wide range of administrative duties, clinical coding and provide administrative support to the multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the jobThe following are the core responsibilities of the Administration Assistant/Clinical Coder. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels.
- QOF Audits
- Process incoming and outgoing mail
- File and store records as required
- Photocopy documentation as required
- Process changes to patient registration, deduction of record and new patient registration
- Input data into the patients health‑care records as necessary
- Answer incoming phone calls, transfer calls or deal with callers’ requests appropriately
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Support all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
- Coding of documents
Job summary
To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of administrative duties and the provision of administrative support to the multidisciplinary team.
Duties can include but are not limited to:
- Answering of telephone
- Making appointments with and directing patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional
- Filing and retrieval of medical records (electronic and manual)
- Record statistical information for audit
- Operation of clinical computer system
- Liaising with doctors, hospital trusts ambulance personnel and community healthcare professionals where necessary
- Support the clinical and management team with administrative tasks
- Updating of patient records electronically as necessary
- Keep patients up to date with record updates
Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.

Qualifications- GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above) or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Flexible and cooperative
- Sensitive and empathetic in distressing situations
- Clear, polite telephone manner
- Ability to work as a team member and autonomously
- Experience of carrying out QOF Audits
- Experience of administrative duties
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting
- Experience of working with the general public
- Clinical coding
