Technical Publications Specialist – Military Helicopters Aircraft – Gosport.
6‑month contract (hourly £38‑£43). Current SC clearance required.
OverviewThe successful candidate will lead the Technical Publications team, ensuring First Time Quality is applied to all publication updates and compliance with the quality management system. The role requires interfacing with the customer and key stakeholders; strong communication skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and mentor the technical publications team, delivering high‑quality outputs.
- Collaborate with the MoD and stakeholders, managing expectations and providing timely updates.
- Develop and maintain support requirements, cost estimates, schedules and program implementation plans; monitor progress, manage risks and ensure contract compliance.
- Apply expertise in technical documentation processes, standards and quality management systems, including document configuration, version control and archival.
- Review and edit publications for grammar, format, style, clarity and technical accuracy, ensuring First Time Quality.
- Contribute to standards development, documentation practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex problems, balancing technical accuracy with organisational objectives.
- Serve as a subject‑matter expert, advising on policies, plans and objectives.
- Manage engineering change proposals, assessing impact on product support and documentation.
- Leverage digital publishing tools, data management systems and cloud‑based platforms.
- Leadership & team management – proven ability to lead, mentor and drive high performance.
- Customer engagement & communication – strong interpersonal skills with MoD and stakeholders.
- Project & program management – developing support requirements, cost estimates, schedules and monitoring risks.
- Technical publications expertise – knowledge of documentation processes, standards and quality systems.
- Attention to detail & QA – reviewing and ensuring technical accuracy and First Time Quality.

- Several years leading technical publications or documentation teams, ideally within aerospace or defence.
- Experience with military aircraft documentation and industry knowledge.
- Hands‑on experience with aerospace documentation standards such as MIL‑SPEC, S1000D and quality management systems.
- Track record working directly with government or defence customers, managing contractual deliverables and relationships.
- Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, schedules and budgets.
