The SAP Configuration Specialist is responsible for planning, managing, and executing the activities associated with the construction and maintenance of Variant Configurators within the Switching and Fusing Business Unit. The position is responsible for understanding the material master requirements, bill of materials (BOMs), and routers inside SAP. This person will need to effectively communicate changes/updates, train downstream users on proper application of the system, and participate in projects related to data migration and mass updates.

• Provide extensive support in the areas of SAP material master and bill of materials creation and maintenance
• Support the engineering change process
• Provide extensive support in the areas affected by the Variant Configurators including controls, processes, and data integrity
• Will interface with Enterprise IT team members, SAP platform resources, SAP R/3 end-users, engineering and New Product development personnel in the execution of duties, including:
• Create and maintain Variant Configurator data for multiple product lines within the SAP S/4 environment
• Modify/publish data models relating to the different products
• Maintaining a strong understanding of variant configurator data requirements in the SAP S/4 environment and the impacts of data elements on all enterprise systems and processes
• Participate in business process improvement initiatives in support of the company’s process improvement initiatives
• Perform integration testing of the variant configurator models in SAP S/4 environments
• Assist in the development and validation of training materials as required
• Create and maintain material master data and bills of materials
• Support mass data change projects

• In lieu of a degree, 3+ years of experience working in an SAP S/4 environment or similar ERP system working extensively with Bills of Material, Material Master and/or Variant Configuration
• Thorough knowledge/understanding of all aspects of the SAP Variant Configurator processes is desired
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work both independently and across teams
• Ability to manage tight deadlines, prioritize work and achieve desired results
• Strong appreciation for data integrity and clear process definitions
