Human Resources Generalist - Leeds, AL

Title:

Human Resources Generalist – Switching & Fusing Location at Hubbell Gas Utility Solutions (HGUS).

Job Overview:
The Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive support related to all HR functions for the growing Switching & Fusing location. The role focuses on recruiting, employee relations, training, benefits, compensation, and more to build, serve, and support all associates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support recruiting efforts for hourly new hires, conduct new hire orientation, and administer onboarding processes including requisitions, materials, pre-employment screenings, and e-verify.
  • Organize employee engagement activities, conduct stay interviews, promote inclusion culture, and support monthly and quarterly employee engagement initiatives.
  • Attend community events such as job fairs and career days at local high schools and community colleges to increase Hubbell awareness.
  • Assist with employee training and identify resources for professional growth and development.
  • Maintain employee records in HRIS, handle all HR transactions such as promotions, transfers, performance reviews, and terminations for all hourly, non-exempt, and exempt employees.
  • Serve as liaison between management and employees, answering questions and ensuring Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) compliance.
  • Collaborate with leadership on job postings, employee selection, and clear communication of policies and procedures.
  • Work with other HR business partners, HR Centers of Excellence, and functional partners (Legal, Finance, IT) to deliver HR support/services.
  • Assist with monthly headcount, termination, new hire, and open position reporting.
  • Administer employee benefits including health, dental, vision, and 401(k), and assist employees with benefit inquiries.
  • Support and track all Leave of Absences, providing necessary documentation and collaborating with Met Life.
  • Complete special projects as needed.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and complete terminations promptly.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of prior Generalist HR experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, act with integrity and professionalism.
  • Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Proven time management skills, ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
  • Exceptional judgment and common sense, with creativity in developing employee‑centric solutions.
  • Results‑oriented track record in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Union experience helpful but not required.
