Job Overview
Our Switching and Fusing facility in Leeds, AL is looking for a CMM Technician to join the team. The CMM Technician is responsible for operating, programming, and maintaining Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to ensure the dimensional accuracy and quality of manufactured parts. This role supports quality assurance and production teams by performing precise measurements and inspections according to engineering specifications.

- Operate CMM equipment: perform dimensional inspections of parts, assemblies, and fixtures using CMM and other measuring tools.
- Programming: create and edit CMM programs, prefer MODUS (Renishaw) experience.
- Calibration & maintenance: calibrate measuring devices and maintain CMM equipment for optimal performance.
- Documentation: record and report inspection results, prepare PPAP and first‑article inspection reports, and maintain ISO documentation.
- Blueprint interpretation: read and interpret technical drawings, CAD models, and GD&T symbols.
- Troubleshooting: investigate measurement discrepancies and assist in root‑cause analysis.
- Collaboration:
work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve measurement issues. - Compliance: adhere to safety regulations and company quality policies.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Technical certificate or associate degree in a related field.
- 2–3 years in CMM operation/programming or quality inspection.
- Proficiency with CMM programming software, particularly MODUS (Renishaw). Other CMM software experience will be considered.
- Strong understanding of GD&T and ability to interpret blueprints.
- Knowledge of MSA (Measurement System Analysis) and SPC (Statistical Process Control).
- Familiarity with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges).
- Basic computer skills (MS Windows environment).
- Analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Continuous visual attention and manual dexterity for precision measurements.
