Trainee Accountant

Location: Holbeck

A growing accountancy firm based in Leeds city centre is looking for a motivated Trainee Accountant to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or build their career in accounting and finance. You will receive hands-on experience across bookkeeping, accounts preparation, tax, payroll, VAT, and client support while working closely with experienced accountants.

Key Responsibilities

As a Trainee Accountant, you will assist with:

* Bookkeeping and maintaining accurate financial records

* Preparing VAT returns

* Processing invoices, receipts, and payments

* Bank reconciliations

* Assisting with payroll preparation

* Supporting the preparation of year-end accounts

* Helping with tax returns and basic tax calculations

* Communicating with clients professionally by email and phone

* Using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, Quick Books, and Excel

* Supporting senior accountants with day-to-day accounting tasks

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

* A strong interest in accounting and finance

* Good attention to detail

* Strong numerical and organisational skills

* Good communication skills

* Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel

* A willingness to learn and develop

* A professional attitude and strong work ethic

Previous accounting experience is helpful but not essential. Graduates, college leavers, AAT students, or candidates looking to start a career in accountancy are encouraged to apply.
