Turn data into decisions that shape the future of our network

We have an amazing opportunity for someone to work within the Asset Strategy Team in our Network Integrity department as an Asset Risk and Strategy Analyst. You support NGN's investment decision‑making and quantify the value impact of NGN’s strategic investment programme.

We’re looking for a self‑starter who can pick up and develop new concepts quickly, whilst working as part of an agile and supportive team. Previous experience in an analytical role would be an advantage; however, we will work with the right candidate to provide the training and support to ensure you are equipped with the skills to be successful in this role.

Graduate applications are welcome if you can demonstrate the required skills.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting the configuration and maintenance of NGN's Asset Investment Planning decision support tool through maintenance of the software code (C#), following quality assurance processes.
  • Leading the annual reporting of NGN performance against the Network Asset Risk Metric (NARM) and supporting the business in monitoring NGN’s performance against it.
  • Ensuring alignment of our asset level strategies to NGN’s strategic business objectives and managing risk and service outputs over multiple time periods (5 - 25 years).
  • Optimising investment plans on 0 – 10‑year timescales using NGN's Asset Investment Planning decision support tool and carrying out analysis/providing analytical support to the Asset Strategy, Investment Planning and RIIO‑GD3 Business planning teams.
  • Working with multi‑disciplined teams, including statisticians, economists, and engineers and attending internal and external meetings as required.
What we are looking for:
  • Ideally, degree educated in an analytical subject or have relevant industry experience.
  • Possess strong critical thinking, analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Experience in using coding languages such as Python, R, and C#. The role involves the maintenance and improvement of NGN’s Decision Support Tool code (currently C#).
  • An aptitude to learn and develop new concepts and skills quickly.
  • Can effectively communicate challenging concepts with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ensure that you have full eligibility to work in the UK.
Why join NGN?
  • Salary from £43,886 per annum.
  • Annual bonus of up to 10%, recognising your contribution and performance.
  • Hybrid working, with three days a week in the office.
  • 25 days of annual leave, plus recognised bank holidays and 2 additional half‑days over the Christmas period.
  • Occupational sick pay available after the first 2 calendar days of statutory sick pay.
  • Generous stakeholder pension scheme, doubling your contribution, up to 10%.
  • Flexible benefits and salary sacrifice options, including discounts on UK attractions, gym memberships, restaurants, experience days, plus access to a Virtual GP service.
  • Family‑friendly policies, including up to 6 weeks of paternity leave and 6 months of full pay for maternity leave (for eligible employees), plus shared parental leave and more.
