Role DescriptionThe Housing Safety and Compliance Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Leeds, responsible for ensuring that YMCA North Tyneside’s housing services meet all relevant safety, quality, and compliance standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include monitoring housing safety procedures, conducting regular inspections, and documenting findings in line with regulatory requirements. The role involves maintaining accurate records, coordinating actions to address issues, and supporting audits and external inspections.
The Housing Safety and Compliance Officer will work closely with housing, finance, and operational teams to ensure policies are followed, risks are identified early, and corrective measures are implemented promptly. The post holder will also communicate clearly with residents and colleagues, providing guidance on safety standards and contributing to a positive, safe living environment.
Qualifications- Strong Compliance Management and Regulatory Compliance skills, with the ability to interpret and apply housing and safety standards in practice.
- Well-developed Analytical Skills to review data, identify trends or risks, and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Excellent Communication skills, including clear written reporting and the ability to engage confidently with residents, colleagues, and external partners.
- Basic understanding of Finance as it relates to compliance activities, budgeting for remedial works, and cost-effective risk management.
- Experience in housing, facilities management, or a related compliance role, ideally within a charity, social housing, or community setting.
- Relevant qualification or training in housing, health and safety, compliance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusive practice in all aspects of the role.
