Job Description
We are looking to recruit experienced staff to join our expanding and exciting Fashion programme, with BA (Hons) Fashion proud to have an academic partnership with Burberry. Based in our award-winning Broadcasting Place building, this role provides high‑level technical support to the learning and development of a diverse cohort of undergraduate and postgraduate Fashion Design students within a creative, busy and inspiring environment.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high‑level technical support for pattern cutting and garment manufacturing for undergraduate and postgraduate Fashion Design students.
- Maintain studios and specialist equipment, order and sell stock, perform first‑line maintenance and assist other technical staff in their duties.
- Apply a proactive work ethos in both studio and showcase environments to support day‑to‑day operations and public performances such as End‑of‑Year shows.
- Work closely and proactively with learning support colleagues across the School to provide an integrated service.
Skills and Qualifications
- Multi‑skilled technician with extensive experience in industry standard garment technology and demonstrated experience in cut and construction of a broad range of garment types and styles.
- Proficiency with industry standard garment manufacturing machinery including automated lockstitch, over locker, cover‑stitch, buttonholer, vacuum press, digital embroidery, blind hemmer and sonic bonder.
- Strong knowledge of IT including Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) and Outlook.
- Adherence to Health & Safety safe working practices.
- Relevant qualification such as an HND or first degree in Fashion Design, or significant industry experience in garment technology or a related field.
- Strong communication, multitasking and customer‑service skills.
