We are looking for skilled and results‑oriented individuals who are motivated to help us build the National Wealth Fund into an industry‑leading institution.
This 24‑month secondment opportunity places you on the National Wealth Fund (NWF) team at the Policy, Strategy & Communications Directorate. You will remain on your current terms and conditions. The secondment will require agreement from your line manager, HR team and will be based in Leeds 2 days a week with travel and subsistence expenses provided.

This role sits at the heart of the Policy, Strategy & Communications Directorate, providing a high‑quality business management function alongside supporting the organisation’s core shareholder and government engagement processes. The Directorate plays a central role in the National Wealth Fund, ensuring alignment with government priorities, shaping strategic direction, and leading external communications and engagement to position the organisation effectively with key stakeholders.
The postholder will be responsible for supporting the Directorate to operate effectively within the Fund and embedding strong governance, planning and performance tracking disciplines across the Directorate. The role also includes coordinating the organisation’s relationship management with its sole shareholder (HM Treasury) and supporting close working with Directorate leadership, including the Chief Policy and Strategy Officer.
- Business management:
Providing a comprehensive business management function for the Directorate, coordinating delivery of corporate business processes, developing and maintaining a forward‑looking workplan and outcome tracker, and proactively supporting the Executive Committee and Senior Management Team to improve efficiency and effectiveness of Directorate processes. - Shareholder relations:
Supporting and coordinating the organisation’s relationship with HM Treasury and its shareholder representative (UK Government Investments), managing regular shareholder reporting and information requests, coordinating shareholder governance processes, and tracking formal shareholder approvals. - Government engagement:
Coordinating briefing and preparation for senior engagement with government departments, devolved administrations and other public‑sector organisations; supporting the annual process of departmental and public financial institution engagement planning and maintaining the Directorate’s government stakeholder engagement database. - Team management:
Managing tasks on a matrix basis with other members of the Directorate who support business management and government engagement functions, and working closely with the Directorate’s Executive Assistant to deliver key processes.
- Experience in business management, operations or strategy coordination roles, ideally within a public sector, policy or financial institution context.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
- Strong analytical and planning capability, with experience developing workplans, trackers or performance frameworks.
- Experience supporting senior governance structures, including agenda setting, paper coordination and action tracking.
