Job Description & How to Apply Below

Location: UK-wide, ideally with access to Leeds or Manchester

Working pattern: Hybrid and flexible

BWD is recruiting for a pensions consultancy looking to add an experienced pensions professional to its specialist governance and consulting team.

This role would suit someone who has already built strong experience across pensions governance, trustee support, scheme secretariat or pension scheme management and now wants to broaden their career into a wider consulting position.

You will work closely with trustees, clients and advisers across a varied portfolio of pension schemes, combining governance, consultancy, project work and client management.

You will:
  • Provide governance, consultancy and secretariat support to a portfolio of pension scheme clients
  • Build strong relationships with trustees, sponsors, advisers and other stakeholders
  • Prepare agendas, meeting packs, reports and governance documentation
  • Attend and support Trustee and client meetings
  • Monitor actions, decisions and scheme business plans
  • Support schemes with governance requirements, including Effective Systems of Governance
  • Manage and contribute to a variety of pension scheme projects
  • Produce clear client reports, papers and presentations
  • Support the onboarding of new clients
  • Get involved in new business activity and tenders
  • Work across wider consulting and technical projects within the business
Who we're looking for

You are likely to have at least five years' experience within the pensions industry, with strong exposure to areas such as:

  • pensions governance
  • governance consulting
  • professional trustee support
You should also have:
  • A strong understanding of occupational pension schemes
  • Experience working directly with clients, trustees or senior stakeholders
  • Good knowledge of pension scheme governance
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Confidence working independently while also contributing to wider client teams
  • An interest in developing into a broader pensions consulting role

This is not a traditional pensions administration position. The role is best suited to someone already working in a governance, trustee-facing, secretariat or consulting environment.

Why consider it?

The biggest attraction is breadth.

Rather than being limited to one area of pensions, you will have the opportunity to develop across governance, client management, consultancy, projects, technical work and new business.

It offers a strong next step for someone who enjoys trustee-facing work but wants more variety, ownership and long-term career options.

For more information, apply directly or contact BWD for a confidential discussion.
