Salary:Circa £45,000 per annum + £4,000 car allowance
We’re looking for an experienced Health & Safety Manager to join our central Health & Safety team, supporting our operational teams across the North of the UK.
This is a hands‑on, highly visible role where you’ll work with leaders across our funeral homes, care centres, crematoria, offices and other operational locations. You’ll provide expert advice, assurance and constructive challenge, helping us create safer workplaces and continuously improve our Health & Safety standards.

What You’ll Be DoingYou’ll be responsible for providing practical Health & Safety support across the North, with around 50-70% of your time spent visiting our operational locations.
- Assurance & inspections
- Carry out audits, inspections and reviews, identifying risks, providing recommendations and following up actions. - Incident management
- Support managers with accident and incident investigations, helping identify root causes and prevent recurrence. - Business partnering
- Build trusted relationships with operational leaders, providing practical advice and constructive challenge to improve standards. - Risk management
- Support teams with risk assessments, safe systems of work and effective control measures. - Training & coaching
- Deliver engaging Health & Safety training and coach leaders to build confidence and promote positive safety behaviours. - Data & reporting
- Analyse Health & Safety data, identify trends and provide clear insight to support decision-making. - Continuous improvement
- Help develop our Health & Safety Management Framework, policies and processes and contribute to improvement projects.
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical Health & Safety knowledge with excellent communication and influencing skills.
You’ll bring:- Significant Health & Safety experience within a multi-site or geographically dispersed organisation.
- Experience in auditing, inspections, assurance and incident investigation.
- Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and risk management.
- Experience working with and influencing operational leaders.
- Excellent communication, report writing and presentation skills.
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach and the confidence to constructively challenge when required.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently across multiple locations.
- Good analytical skills and confidence using Microsoft platforms and data to identify trends and opportunities.
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification, IOSH membership and experience with ISO 45001 would be advantageous.
Experience in funeral services, crematoria, facilities management, logistics, retail or another multi-site operational environment would also be beneficial.
