Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor (G7) this role is professionally responsible for supporting the end to end delivery process for the commercial and financial management of a portfolio of projects from inception to completion. You will be accountable to challenge and approve how projects are budgeted, procured and cost managed whilst still achieving the required standards and quality and delivery on programme.

This specialist role will work closely with the supplier partner network, in particular the Framework Contractors and Professional Services Consultants to ensure management of all costs and drive enhanced value for money across all types and complex projects, including Lifecycle;
Capital (change the Estate) and FF&E.

The role will provide commercial overview and assurance that completed projects meet the needs of the DWP business and are aligned with the Estates strategic portfolio plan

The Department for Work and Pensions touches every citizen in the country at some time in their life. We are the UK Government's largest public service provider, providing services and support to over 22 million people and managing Whitehall's biggest annual budget, totaling over £176 billion. At the same time, we are delivering a once in a generation programme of welfare reform.

We provide a modern, fair and affordable welfare system that makes a sustainable and positive difference to people's lives every day. Our role is to support people into work by extending their opportunity, strengthening their personal responsibility and enabling them to reach their potential - and this could be your role too.

We're looking for talented individuals to help us fulfil this role during the biggest challenge of a generation.

At the forefront of the Covid response and economic recovery, DWP will remain 'front and centre' in the Government's efforts to support people through the recovery and back into work. When Covid-19 struck, DWP immediately took a critical role in ensuring people received vital financial support. DWP has already put in place a programme of work to support economic recovery, ranging from influencing decisions on emergence from lockdown (eg changing social distancing measures) to re-designing a future Jobcentre Plus service, and future contracted employment provision to ensure well-targeted, and deliverable support is available.

We employ over 91,000 people in varied roles, from delivering services on the front line in communities across the country, to developing policy to tackle some of the biggest strategic questions of the age.
