Turner Property Recruitment is working with a well-established property consultancy to recruit a Chartered or Senior Building Surveyor to join its friendly and growing team in central Leeds.
This is an excellent opportunity for an MRICS-qualified Building Surveyor looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive, commercially focused consultancy that values professional development, autonomy and long-term relationships.
The business offers a relaxed working environment with a close-knit, family feel, where unnecessary bureaucracy is avoided and individuals are trusted to manage their own workload. With a varied client base and a strong pipeline of project-led instructions, this role offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of sectors and services, while developing professionally and commercially.
The RoleYou will join a small, collaborative team delivering a diverse range of building surveying and project consultancy services to a well-established client base, including major corporate organisations, investors and property owners.
The position would suit an experienced Senior Building Surveyor or Chartered Building Surveyor who can hit the ground running, manage their own projects and contribute positively to the continued success of the business.
The consultancy is looking for an all-rounder who enjoys variety and is comfortable working across both professional and project-based instructions, rather than specialising in one particular area.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering Contract Administration (CA), Employer's Agent (EA), Project Management (PM) and Lead Consultant services.
- Undertaking dilapidations instructions, acting for both landlords and tenants.
- Carrying out Technical Due Diligence (TDD) and Vendor Technical Due Diligence (VTDD) surveys and reports.
- Undertaking defect diagnosis, inspections and producing detailed reports.
- Providing Licence to Alter (LTA) and monitoring services.
- Managing projects from inception through to completion, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships while identifying opportunities to develop existing accounts and generate new business.
- Managing your own diary, workload and deadlines effectively, keeping colleagues informed and contributing to the wider team.
Projects will span a range of sectors, particularly office, major residential and industrial property, providing exposure to a varied and commercially interesting workload.
About YouTo be considered, you must be MRICS qualified and have the experience and confidence to manage instructions independently.
We would be particularly interested in speaking with candidates who can demonstrate:
- MRICS qualification in Building Surveying.
- Experience operating at Senior or Chartered Building Surveyor level.
- A strong all-round building surveying background, covering both professional services and project work.
- The ability to manage a varied workload and deliver projects with minimal supervision.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- A proactive, commercially aware approach, with an interest in developing client relationships.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a small team while taking ownership of your own responsibilities.
Candidates who have recently achieved MRICS through the APC may also be considered, provided they have a strong level of relevant experience gained before becoming chartered and are ready to take on a senior-level role.
Ideally, you will be based in Leeds or within a commutable distance, as the business is keen to build a long-term working relationship with someone who can become an established member of the local team.
The OpportunityThe successful candidate will join a consultancy that prioritises long-term relationships, professional development and high-quality service delivery.
The business has a loyal client base, including established blue-chip organisations, and delivers a wide variety of instructions across its UK offices. Current work includes industrial projects, commercial office refurbishments, dilapidations and asset management projects, with instructions ranging from smaller refurbishment schemes to major capital projects.
There is a genuine opportunity to take ownership of your work, develop your technical and commercial skills, build client relationships and contribute to the continued growth of the Leeds office.
