Quantity Surveyor, Procurement / Purchasing, Civil Engineering, Building & Residential Construction
Step into this Quantity Surveyor role and build something that matters in Property & Construction.
Construction output across Yorkshire has held steady even as other sectors wobble, and Leeds sits right at the centre of that activity. This is an established name in Property & Construction, the kind of employer with a pipeline of large-scale developments rather than one job at a time. They need a Quantity Surveyor who can keep costs under control while the projects around them get bigger and more complex.
Whatyou'll be doing:
- Preparing cost estimates, budgets and tender documents for live construction projects
- Measuring quantities from drawings and specifications, then pricing the work accurately
- Managing the valuation and payment process with subcontractors and suppliers
- Reviewing variations and change orders, and negotiating final accounts
- Producing monthly cost reports and flagging risks to project managers before they become problems
- Liaising with clients, architects and site teams to keep budgets aligned with the build programme
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)
- Solid experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within a contractor or consultancy environment
- Working knowledge of NEC or JCT contracts
- Confident with cost management software and Excel at an intermediate to advanced level
- Strong negotiation skills. You'll be dealing with subcontractors who push back, and you need to hold your ground calmly
- An eye for detail that doesn't slow you down. Speed and accuracy both matter here
- £35,000 to £51,500 depending on experience
- Hybrid working, with time split between the Leeds office and site visits
- Private medical and dental insurance
- Enhanced pension scheme and performance-based bonuses
- A comprehensive benefits package built for people who want to stay long term
Leeds has become one of the strongest regional markets for construction outside London, with commercial, residential and infrastructure work all competing for skilled people. A Quantity Surveyor with a few years under their belt has genuine choice here: contractor side, consultancy side, or client side, each with a different career shape. Property & Construction rewards people who can combine numbers with judgement, and that combination only gets more valuable as you progress.
