Role Summary

We are seeking a confident, patient-focused and motivated Dental Therapist to join our growing team on a full-time permanent basis.

This role is ideal for a clinician who is passionate about prevention, periodontal care and patient education, while also being comfortable delivering restorative and routine therapy treatments within their scope of practice. You will work collaboratively with the wider clinical team to provide high standards of care and support an exceptional patient journey.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake clinical duties in line with your GDC Scope of Practice, training, competence and indemnity, including:

  • Carrying out comprehensive periodontal assessments, charting and treatment
  • Delivering preventative and oral health education to patients
  • Diagnosing and treatment planning within scope of practice
  • Undertaking supragingival and subgingival scaling and root surface debridement
  • Providing periodontal maintenance and supportive therapy
  • Taking, prescribing and interpreting dental radiographs
  • Delivering direct restorations on primary and permanent teeth
  • Applying fluoride treatments and fissure sealants
  • Administering local anaesthetic
  • Taking clinical photographs and impressions
  • Carrying out oral cancer screening
  • Providing smoking cessation and oral hygiene advice
  • Managing and maintaining accurate, contemporaneous clinical records
  • Referring patients appropriately where treatment falls outside scope of practice
  • Working closely with dentists and the wider team to support continuity of care
  • Supporting audit activity and quality assurance where required
  • Supporting anxious or nervous patients and delivering care in a calm, patient focused manner
  • Recognising and responding appropriately to medical emergencies and safeguarding concerns.
  • Supporting the practice in promoting and growing private treatment uptake through patient education, communication and identification of appropriate treatment opportunities outside the NHS
Compliance & Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain valid GDC registration, indemnity and CPD requirements
  • Work in accordance with current GDC standards, HTM 01-05, CQC requirements and practice policies
  • Ensure high standards of infection prevention and control are consistently maintained

    Obtain and document valid patient consent at all times
  • Maintain professionalism, empathy and patient confidentiality
  • Participate in clinical governance, team meetings and ongoing practice improvement initiatives
  • Support a positive, collaborative and patient-centred culture within the practice
About You
  • GDC registered Dental Therapist (essential)
  • Previous experience working within general dental practice
  • Strong knowledge of periodontal therapy and preventative dentistry
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient-focused with a warm and professional manner
  • Organised, reliable and able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Committed to high clinical standards and continuous professional development
  • Confident using dental software and digital systems
