As an Intermediate User Researcher
, you will play an important role in making Hippo the best consultancy out there. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team combining data, design, product, delivery, analysis and engineering to deliver bespoke digital services that make a positive and meaningful impact on organisations and society. You will act as an Intermediate Consultant to deliver User Research services to our clients. You will take initiative in planning and executing research activities independently, applying appropriate methodologies to uncover user needs and patterns. You will collaborate closely with designers and product teams to translate these findings into actionable insights that drive project success.

Our solutions empower our customers to build and support secure, scalable, and well-engineered systems beyond traditional boundaries that allow our customers to understand and get the most from their data and digital services.

Your Role in a Nutshell
  • Collaborate with teams to develop comprehensive research plans that align with delivery goals and timelines.
  • Independently conduct various research activities, such as moderated usability testing or contextual interviews, ensuring high-quality outputs.
  • Synthesize research data from multiple sources at pace to identify patterns, trends, and actionable insights.
  • Present research findings in a compelling way that helps teams and stakeholders align on user‑centered decisions.
  • Proactively identify and navigate potential ethical risks and safeguarding issues within research sessions.
  • Manage the operational aspects of research projects, including developing recruitment strategies and compliant data practices.
Essential Experience
  • Proven experience in planning and executing end‑to‑end user research within an agile environment.
  • Ability to select and adapt research methods (e.g., usability testing, interviews, surveys) to meet clear project objectives.
  • Strong skills in qualitative analysis and the ability to turn complex data into simple, actionable recommendations for design and product teams.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team and building positive relationships with cross‑functional members.
  • Familiarity with ethical standards and GDPR compliance in the context of user research.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience conducting research with vulnerable groups or in sensitive problem spaces.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and experience conducting inclusive research with users who have access needs.
  • Contributing to an internal community of practice by sharing knowledge and best practices.
