Overview
This fellowship post (ST6–8+ level) is available at The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in the Department of Neurosurgery. It is a fixed‑term, 1‑year fellowship beginning August/September 2026, approved by the Royal College of Surgeons, SBNS and ENTUK.
Main DutiesThe post will provide intensive training in endoscopic anterior skull base surgery, with a focus on pituitary disease, chordoma, chondrosarcoma, craniopharyngioma and rare tumours such as olfactory neuroblastoma. The fellow will achieve competence in both operative and non‑operative aspects, including endocrine management of pituitary disease and relevant rhinology. The role also includes teaching, audit and research participation, and contribution to the on‑call registrar rota.
Responsibilities- Become fully immersed in the Pituitary service and all its aspects in preparation for independent practice.
- Gain independent competencies in endoscopic management of sella pathology, including extended approaches.
- Support ward management, attend specialist clinics and multi‑disciplinary meetings to understand endocrine and radiosurgical aspects of Sella disease.
- Contribute to the on‑call registrar rota and work independently at Speciality Registrar level.
- Participate in research and audit projects related to skull base surgery.
- Maintain continuous professional development and complete all mandatory training.
- Full registration with the GMC and current licence to practice.
- Eligibility to work in the UK and prior UK NHS experience.
- Experience in on‑call rota and working as a registrar (preferred).
- Interest in minimally invasive skull base surgery and a desire to specialise in this field.
- Strong clinical judgement, prioritisation, safety orientation and commitment to quality care.
