Position: Higher Level Teaching Assistant

HLTA Required for SEN College in Leeds

About the role:

At Engage Education, we're currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work full-time at a successful and forward-thinking SEN college in Leeds.

You will be joining a highly supportive, multidisciplinary team within a nurturing and inclusive environment, working with young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The college is committed to supporting both learners and staff to achieve their full potential, offering excellent facilities and a strong focus on wellbeing, independence, and life skills alongside academic progress.

This role is ideal for an experienced HLTA who is passionate about supporting learners with additional needs, confident in leading learning activities, and able to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual needs. You will play a key role in planning and delivering lessons, monitoring progress, and supporting teaching staff to ensure positive outcomes for students.

The ideal applicant will be:

  • A qualified HLTA with relevant experience, ideally within SEN
  • Experienced in working with young people with a range of SEND, including autism, learning difficulties, and complex needs
  • Confident in planning, delivering, and adapting learning activities to meet individual Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Able to manage and support a team of teaching assistants, including contributing to their training and professional development
  • Skilled in promoting independence, communication, and positive behaviour
  • Patient, resilient, and empathetic, with a genuine passion for inclusive education
  • An inspiring and proactive practitioner who can motivate and engage learners in a college setting
