About the Role

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? We're recruiting SEMH Support Workers for a specialist PRU in Leeds. The unit supports pupils aged 11-16 who may have complex behavioural, emotional, and social challenges. This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals with experience in SEN, youth work, care, psychology, or support services.

If you're committed, patient, and empathetic, you can help these pupils re‑engage with learning, develop emotional regulation, and build confidence in a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Assist pupils with emotional regulation, social skills, and behaviour management
  • Support teachers in delivering accessible and inclusive learning
  • Build trusting relationships with pupils to foster engagement and resilience
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral staff to meet EHCP or behaviour targets
  • Support structured routines, positive behaviour interventions, and restorative practices
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, ADHD, or behavioural needs
  • Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Confidence using strategies to de‑escalate challenging behaviours
  • Commitment to full‑time, term‑time work
  • Backgrounds in youth work, care, psychology, criminology, teaching, or SEN support are highly desirable
