Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for a Band 6 within the Children's Nursing Education Team – L38 – to drive quality and service improvement at Leeds Children’s Hospital. The role focuses on education, mandatory training, priority training and professional development for all staff, ensuring high standards of teaching and competency across the Trust.
Job responsibilities- Drive quality and service improvement through education, mandatory and priority training, and professional development programmes.
- Oversee and facilitate induction and annual update training for Registered Nurses, Registered Nursing Associates and Non‑Registered Clinical Facing Staff.
- Provide quality assurance of teaching content, competency packages and online learning resources.
- Maintain an audit trail of training provided across Leeds Children’s Hospital.
- Collaborate with the Lead Nurse for Children’s Education and Lead Nurse for Quality to respond to clinical audits, incidents and service improvement initiatives, ensuring patient and staff safety.
- Instigate training and education for existing staff, including clinical skills training and surge training, on an annual basis.
- Knowledge of national standards and policies and their impact on nursing education.
- Evidence of working independently and demonstrating creativity when planning and preparing education.
- Experience in planning education according to clinical standards and managing risk in line with operational targets and regulatory compliance.
- Leadership experience in a clinical practice setting.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Recognised teaching/assessment qualification (e.g., PAPP, SLIPS or mentorship).
- Significant clinical experience within Leeds Children’s Hospital and an understanding of how the service runs.
- Experience in education and teaching is desirable.
