We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and dedicated Maths Tutor to join our growing team.

The Role

As our Maths Tutor, you will play a vital role in delivering outstanding Maths provision, supporting students to achieve their full potential and successfully gain relevant qualifications. You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons, monitoring progress, and ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality Maths teaching that inspires, motivates, and engages learners.
  • Conduct initial assessments and diagnostic testing to determine students’ starting points and appropriate qualification pathways.
  • Work closely with the Exams Officer to ensure students are entered for the correct examinations within required timescales.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and monitor learner progress.
  • Identify students at risk of underachievement and implement timely interventions.
  • Plan and oversee Maths programmes that support students in achieving their qualifications and personal targets.
  • Lead and direct support staff within sessions to maximise student engagement and achievement.
  • Use assessment data, including Skills Builder diagnostics, to inform teaching, learning, and curriculum planning.
  • Embed Maths across the wider curriculum and collaborate with colleagues to promote numeracy in all learning environments.
  • Support students who have already achieved GCSE Maths Grade 4 or above through enrichment and project-based learning opportunities.
  • Complete all required assessment, moderation, verification, and administrative duties.
  • Maintain accurate student records and update management information systems (MIS) as required.
  • Contribute to Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews through detailed progress reporting.
  • Celebrate and promote student achievements and success.
  • Collaborate with SENCOs, Job Coaches, and wider staff teams to support learners’ academic, personal, and employment goals.
  • Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and risk assessment procedures are always followed.
  • Represent Lighthouse Futures Trust professionally at meetings, events, and external engagements.
About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a recognised teaching qualification
  • Has experience teaching Maths, ideally within Further Education, SEND, or alternative provision settings.
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of Maths curriculum and qualification requirements.
  • Has experience assessing, tracking, and monitoring learner progress.
  • Is passionate about supporting young people with additional needs to achieve their goals.
  • Can create engaging, innovative, and differentiated learning experiences.
  • Has excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Works collaboratively and positively within a multidisciplinary team.
