About The Role
Leeds City College are seeking a Teacher of Enterprise and Employability to join us at our Somerville House campus. This role is ideal for someone with experience working with young people, patience, empathy, and enthusiasm to support learners take the next step in education or employment.
In this role, you will support learner development, progression, and achievement, working with the Deputy Head to design a robust and ambitious curriculum at Level 1 and 2. The curriculum is centred on active learning and skills development, with practical lessons, partnerships with employers, higher education providers, and insights into careers, apprenticeships, and higher education. Class sizes are no larger than 20 students per class.
The School of Enterprise and Employability offers a wide range of study programmes to 16‑18 year‑old learners and 19+ with an EHCP, ranging from Level 1 for learners with limited experience to Level 2, enabling students to progress to higher education, apprenticeships, or the world of work.
What You Will Do- Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
- Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course.
- Be responsible for recording student progress.
- Maintain and update knowledge of the subject and/or vocational area.
- Maintain and update knowledge of educational research to develop evidence‑based practice.
- Reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet diverse needs of students.
- Adapt curriculum delivery methods to maximise effectiveness, including through technology.
- Carry out internal verification/moderation.
- Holds an L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
- Has a relevant highest‑level vocational qualification or degree in a teaching subject.
- English and Maths at Level 2 or above, with willingness to improve to Level 3 or above.
- Has recent subject knowledge and recent delivery experience in FE or school sector.
- Has recent teaching delivery in relevant subject areas, demonstrating active learning and differentiated teaching styles.
- Has experience positively managing student progression, advice, and guidance in a school or FE setting.
- Has experience setting appropriate SMART targets to ensure learner progression.
- Has knowledge of current teaching practices and experience of using a range of teaching practices to enhance learner journey and progression.
