Position: Childrens Support Worker/ Outdoor Education
Make a Real Difference Through Outdoor Learning Next Gen Young Peoples Services is looking for passionate and motivated Outdoor Education Support Workers to join our team. This role involves working with children and young people who may face challenges such as school disengagement, autism, learning difficulties, emotional wellbeing needs, or safeguarding vulnerabilities. Through outdoor learning, mentoring, and practical activities, you will help young people develop confidence, resilience, and life skills while supporting their engagement with education.

The Role Deliver engaging outdoor learning and activity sessions Create and deliver lesson plans aligned with young peoples EHCP targets Build positive and trusting relationships with young people Support young people with autism and learning difficulties Encourage confidence, teamwork, and resilience Help young people re-engage with education Complete termly progress reports in line with educational targets Maintain safe and supportive learning environments Work closely with the wider Next Gen team Outdoor Activities May Include Woodland and nature-based learning Bushcraft and survival skills Team-building activities Confidence and resilience challenges Environmental and practical projects Community-based activities Outdoor mentoring and wellbeing sessions Experience & Requirements Experience working with children or young people Understanding of safeguarding and child protection Ability to build positive relationships with young people Good communication and organisational skills Ability to plan learning activities and monitor progress Full driving licence and access to a vehicle Vehicle must have appropriate business insurance for travelling between support locations Experience supporting young people with autism or SEND (desirable) Outdoor education, youth work, or mentoring experience (desirable) First Aid training (desirable) Safeguarding Commitment Next Gen Young Peoples Services is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
