About the Role

Leeds City College are seeking a Teaching Facilitator to join our Foundation Studies department!

Foundation Studies is a discrete element of the curriculum offer within Luminate Education Group. The department provides bespoke learning for students who are identified as SEND and High Needs aged 16-25. We take a student-centred approach to delivery so that students make the best possible progress towards EHCP outcomes, personal targets and the development of English and maths.

We provide a welcoming and supportive environment in order to best support learners through their chosen pathways (Work Skills, Independent Living Skills) for their preparation into adulthood.

Please note, this is a reduced year role of 39 weeks per year. The pro rata salary for this role is £28,129 with progression to £29,820.

What You Will Do
  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources, including the development of online learning resources where needed.
  • Deliver sessions across the curriculum using a wide range of teaching methods for identified modules.
  • Develop and employ assessment activities.
  • Assess student work, provide feedback to help the learner improve and record learner’s progress.
  • Create individual learning plans, which include targets.

  • Experience working with SEND learners.
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to differentiate teaching and support individual learning needs.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs, safeguarding, and inclusive teaching practices.
  • Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to motivate students and celebrate small achievements.
