Career Teachers is working in partnership with a fantastic specialist school to recruit dedicated and compassionate Special Needs Teaching Assistants for full‑time, long‑term positions starting in September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly supportive educational setting that caters for students aged 3 to 19 years with a wide range of additional learning needs. Successful candidates will initially be employed through Career Teachers, with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract directly with the school following a successful placement.
The RoleAs a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom. You will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment where every student can thrive.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Providing 1:1 and small group support
- Assisting students with communication and social development
- Supporting learning activities tailored to individual needs
- Promoting independence and confidence
- Implementing behaviour support strategies where required
- Supporting personal care needs when necessary
- Helping to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment
We are seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals who genuinely want to make a difference in the lives of children and young people with additional needs.
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional learning needs
- A positive, patient, and resilient approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
- Ability to build strong, professional relationships with students and staff
Familiarity with various needs, such as:
- ADHD
- Speech, Language and Communication Needs
- Moderate or Severe Learning Difficulties
- Complex Needs
- Physical Disabilities
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Full‑time, long‑term role from September 2026
