About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Screen Acting Lecturer to join the team delivering our BA (Hons) Acting degree at University Centre Leeds.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner and educator to inspire the next generation of screen actors through high-quality teaching across our Higher Education provision. As part of our Creative Arts team, you will help shape an inclusive and industry-informed learning experience, equipping students with the skills, confidence, and professional knowledge needed to succeed in careers across film, television, and digital media.

* Salary advertised will be pro rata for the hours worked

What You Will Do
  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging, inclusive teaching, learning and assessment that supports students to develop their screen acting skills and achieve their full potential.
  • Assess student work, provide timely and constructive feedback, and accurately monitor progress, setting targets and implementing appropriate interventions to support achievement and progression.
  • Create a positive and motivating learning environment that encourages high levels of engagement, attendance, confidence and student success.
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes, including assessment, internal verification and moderation, ensuring high academic standards are maintained.
  • Continuously develop your teaching practice, maintain current industry knowledge, and contribute to curriculum development to ensure programmes remain relevant, innovative and aligned with professional practice.
About You
  • A passionate, student-focused educator and/or experienced screen acting professional with a commitment to delivering outstanding Higher Education teaching.
  • Demonstrable expertise in teaching screen acting methodologies, including Stanislavski, Meisner, Michael Chekhov, Hagen, Adler and Chubbuck, alongside strong practical knowledge of on-camera performance, self-taping, audition preparation, continuity, eyelines, shot awareness, and coaching actors for film, television and digital media.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students, adapt teaching to meet diverse learning needs, and effectively monitor student progress.
  • A reflective practitioner who is committed to continuous professional development, maintaining current industry knowledge, and using professional networks to enhance the student experience and curriculum.
  • A relevant degree or vocational qualification in the subject area and a Level 5 teaching qualification (e.g. Cert Ed or PGCE), or a willingness to achieve this within two years of appointment
