Milk Education is working with a fantastic school who are looking for an Aspiring Youth Justice Worker to join their team as a Behaviour Support Worker
. This role is ideal for someone who wants to gain real, hands-on experience supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and developing the skills needed for a future career within youth justice, mentoring, safeguarding or support work.

You don’t need to have years of experience — what matters most is your attitude, resilience, and passion for helping young people overcome barriers. Whether you’re a recent Criminology graduate, have experience in youth work, volunteering, coaching, care, or simply know that working with young people is where you want your career to go, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing :
  • Building trusting relationships with young people and becoming someone they can rely on
  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Helping young people develop emotional regulation, confidence, and resilience
  • Supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviours in a calm and positive way
  • Working alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to provide the best support possible
  • Encouraging engagement, personal development, and positive decision-making
We’re looking for someone who:
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting young people and making a difference
  • Is considering a career in youth justice, criminology, psychology, probation, mentoring or support work
  • Can build positive relationships with young people who may have faced challenges
  • Is patient, approachable and able to remain calm in difficult situations
  • Has experience working with young people through education, volunteering, sports, care, community work or similar environments
  • Is open to learning new approaches and developing their behaviour support skills
Experience that would be great (but isn’t essential):
  • SEMH, SEND or behaviour support experience
  • Youth work or mentoring experience
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches or restorative practice
  • Any relevant training such as Team Teach or safeguarding qualifications
